The Computer acts as a storage system for our habits, beliefs, experiences and learned behaviours. It contains the programmes that have been repeated most often and therefore become increasingly automatic over time.

This is where the model connects directly to neuroscience. Every repeated thought, emotional reaction and behaviour strengthens the pathways stored within the Computer. Because the brain naturally prioritises speed and familiarity, it often defaults to these established patterns when pressure increases.

If someone repeatedly responds to stress with self-doubt, catastrophising or frustration, those responses become easier to access in future. Equally, if they repeatedly practise emotional regulation, perspective and constructive self-talk, those pathways strengthen instead.

This is why elite performers do not wait until pressure arrives to develop resilience. Athletes, leaders and high performers repeatedly train the mental habits they want to access when challenges emerge. Over time, calmness, perspective and emotional control become increasingly automatic because the underlying neural pathways have been strengthened through repetition.

Resilience is rarely accidental. It is conditioned through repeated mental and emotional practice.

In high-pressure environments, that becomes a genuine competitive advantage.
